the potential of the peeled pineapple according to the colour of its flesh
a peeled pineapple is not cheap but it has two advantages over an unpeeled pineapple. one is obviously that you don’t have to peel it and peeling a pineapple is a pain so this is not insignificant, but being able to see the colour of its flesh means that you can see if it’s likely to be sweet and lovely (a darker more mellow yellow) or sour and acrid (pale yellow).
there is also a possible third advantage. saying ‘peeled pineapple’ is more fun than saying ‘unpeeled pineapple’ — which in any case you wouldn’t say because unpeeled is its default state.
so if someone came home with a peeled pineapple you could discuss the potential of the peeled pineapple judging by the colour of its flesh, but she doesn’t.
